Mary Jean Eaves

Mrs. Mary Jean Eaves, 77, widow of the late Walter “Bubba” Eaves, died July 4th after a brief illness.She and Bubba were married for fifty-four years before his passing in 2016. A native of Tifton, Mary Jean attended Auburn University.A long-time resident of Elbert County, she was active in local historic preservation, the Iris Garden Club and various bridge groups.A former member of the Elbert Memorial Hospital Foundation Board, Mary Jean loved travel and English antiques. Her legacy includes four children-sons, Edward, Robert and Eric Eaves and daughter Gina Eaves Carter – as well as grandsons, Taylor Carter and Walt Eaves. A Graveside Memorial Service was held Tuesday, July 9th at 10:00am in Elmhurst Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church c/o Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1009 Benson Street, Hartwell, GA 30643. Arrangements for Mrs. Mary Jean Eaves were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
