Mrs. Mary Pauline McCannon Mattox, 77, of Carlton, Georgiapassed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at her home. Mrs. Mattox was born in Washington, Georgia to the late George and Dollie Lee Castle McCannon.She was the bride of Mr. Jimmy Mattox, having celebrated 39 years together before his passing in 2000.Mrs. Mattox worked in the textile industry as a seamstress.Her greatest delight was spending time with her family whom she loved dearly. Mrs. Mattox is survived by her sons: Chuck McCannon (Mindy) of LaFayette, Henry Mattox (Melissa), and David Mattox (Jackie),all of Elberton; and her daughters: Rose Bruce (Ricky) of Carlton, and Josephine Parker (Bobby) of Nicholson.She also leaves behind several grandchildren:Stephanie Young, Michael McCannon, Nikki McCannon, Jennifer Bruce, Jonathan Bruce, Natalie Bruce, Kevin Parker, Shane Parker, Michaela Mattox, and Corbin Mattox;five great-grandchildren: Tymon Young, Kyler McCannon, Austin Bruce, Cole Carthern, and Kayla Poss; and two great-great-grandchildren: Brewer Poss and Asher Poss. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Mattox was preceded in death by a daughter Azzie Lee “Toby” McCannon; a grandson, Derek Randy Haynes; two sisters, Frances McCannon Treadwell and Hallie McCannon Hubbard; and three brothers: Thomas Earl McCannon, George McCannon, Jr., and William Allen “Shine” McCannon. A service to celebrate Mrs. Mattox’s life was held on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. in The Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home, with Rev. Gary Purvis and Rev. Al Butler officiating.Interment followed in Forest Hills Memorial Park with Corbin Mattox, Jonathan Bruce, Michael McCannon, Kevin Parker, Titus Poss, and Josh Bullard serving as pallbearers. Arrangements for Mrs. Mary Pauline Mattox were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
