Mary Sue Roland Heard

Mary Sue Heard, 82, of Tignall, Georgia, died on Friday, February 2, 2024, at NEGA Medical Center, in Braselton, Georgia, after a brief illness.

She was born on May 31, 1941, in Tignall, Georgia, and was the youngest daughter of Sara Albea Roland and Tignall C. Roland.    

Mary Sue, “Sue Sue” is survived by her nephew, Eddie Roland (Barbara); niece, Sandra Sykes (BJ); sister-in-law, Mary Lane Heard Lamoureux; nieces: Dayna McEvoy (Michael), Susie Lundie (Mike), Laurie Harbin (Tim), Christy Lee, and Jamie Lee; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Sue Sue married her sweetheart, Gene C. Heard, on October 23, 1982, in McCormick, South Carolina, and they were happily married for 39 years, until his death in 2021.

She was a dedicated member of Tignall Baptist Church for over 70 years, and missed her church family after her move to Hoschton in 2021, but stayed in touch with many of them and always delighted in phone calls and visits from them.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 10, at 2:00p.m. at Tignall Baptist Church, with visitation at 1:00p.m. prior to the service. Revs. Clyde Davis and Kenny Long will be officiating, with interment to follow at Tignall Baptist Cemetery.
