Mr. Matthew Walter Kantala, IV, 35, of Calhoun Falls Hwy., Elberton, GA, husband of Legh Ann Graham Kantala, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017, from a tragic work accident.

Mr. Kantala was born September 15, 1981, in Elberton, GA to Matthew Walter Kantala, III and Ethel Bell Kantala. He was a member of Fortsonia Baptist Church and a Quarryman. He would give the shirt off of his back to help anyone who was in need. Matthew's passion was being a devoted and loving husband and father for his wife and children, and a loving and caring friend to his family and extended family.

He is survived by his wife, Legh Ann Graham Kantala; son, Gray Kantala; daughters: Kelsie Hayes, Alyssa Myers; parents: Matthew Walter Kantala, III and Ethel Bell Kantala; siblings: Meghan Burgess (Chris) of Hartwell, GA, Mori Terrell (Steven) of Carnesville, GA, Mary Rachel Clasen (Danny) of Decatur, GA, grandmother, Sara Kantala of Elberton, GA; sister-in-law, Taran Myers (Charles) of Elberton, GA; nieces and nephews: Maylea Burgess, CJ Burgess, Elizabeth Terrell, Gracie Terrell, Jessie Terrell, Shay Myers, Aiden Myers and Makinzee Myers.

He was preceded in death by grandparents: Matthew Walter Kantala, Jr., H.A. Bell, Jr. and MaryLea Adams Bell and nephew, Grant William Terrell.

Funeral services to celebrate Matthew’s life will be held 3PM, Wednesday, July 26, at Fortsonia Baptist Church with Rev. Adrian Bell officiating. Interment will be in Elmhurst Cemetery with Matt Wood, Patrick Duncan, Michael Christian, Kyle Lovinggood, Jason Bell and William Webb serving as pallbearers. Joey Christian and Luda Skelton will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7-9PM Tuesday night at Berry Funeral Home.
