Melvin Lee Black Sr.

Melvin Lee Black Sr., 84, of 1136 Willie Black Road, Elberton husband of Thora Cannon Black died Sunday October 24, 2010 at Elbert Memorial Hospital. Born in Elbert County he was a son of the late Willie F. Black Sr. and Annie Lou Mattox Black. He was a retired stone polisher, a U.S. Navy veteran, and was a Little League Coach for over 20 years. Survivors include his wife Thora Cannon Black, daughters and son-in-laws Madonna and Lamar Williams of Ila, GA, Lisa and Marty Saxon of Elberton, GA, sons and daughter-in-laws Lee and Wanda Black Jr. of Elberton, GA, William and Lucy of Black of Elberton, GA, and Steve and Joyce Black of Carlton, GA, sisters Wilma Thomas of Comer, GA, Barbara Winn of Elberton, GA, and Mary Anne Worley of Elberton, GA, brothers Jamie "Blue" Black of Elberton, GA, Stewart Black of Jackson, GA, Allen Black of Elberton, GA, and Dwight Black of Elberton, GA, ten grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers Willie F. Black Jr. and Charles B. Black. Memorial services will be held Wednesday October 27, at 5PM at the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Rev. James Claxton officiating. The family will be at the home of Denver and Mary Anne Worley 829 Cardinal Dr. Elberton, GA and will receive friends from 4-5PM just prior to the service at Berry Funeral Home. Berry Funeral Home is respectfully in charge of the funeral arrangements for Mr. Melvin Lee Black Sr.
