Mrs. Mildred Bradford Smith Bailey of Elberton, Georgiapassed away on Friday, December 16, 2016 at Pruitt Healthcare at Spring Valley. Mrs. Bailey was born on October 31, 1930 in Elberton.The daughter of the late Boyd and Hattie Slay Bradford, she was the last of thirteen children.She was also preceded in death by her first husband, George Duncan Smith and second husband, George Bailey. “Nanny” as she was lovingly called by everyone who knew her, worked as a seamstress at Elberton Manufacturing for forty seven years.She was also a caregiver to several family members. Survivors include one son, Lieutenant Commander George Randall Smith and his wife, Kathy, of Anderson, SC; one daughter, Susan Smith Brown of Elberton; four grandchildren, Stacie Brown Warwick and her husband, Brian, of Elberton, Stephanie Smith Raspet and her husband, Tom of Anderson, SC, Becky Smith Salvatore and husband, Anthony, of Woodstock, and Randall Smith, of Charleston, SC.She also leaves behind six great-grandchildren: Ian Warwick, Myla Warwick, Anna Salvatore, Victoria Raspet, James Salvatore and “Baby Raspet to be”; a step-daughter, Sandra Booth and husband, Gary, of Elberton; and three sisters-in- law:Delree Bradford, Julia Dixon, and Sarah Frances Smith, all of Elberton. Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hicks Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Purvis officiating.Serving as honorary pallbearers were Randy Smith, Randall Smith, Ian Warwick, Brian Warwick, Anthony Salvatore and Tom Raspet.A time of visitation was held prior to service. Flowers were optional, and memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Bailey’s memory to the Pruitt Cares Foundation, 1626 Jeurgens Court, Norcross, GA 30093, or online at www.pruittcares.org Arrangements for Mrs. Mildred Bradford Smith Bailey were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
