Milton Charles "Mickey" Smith, 64, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011 at the Cartersville Medical Center. Born in Elberton, GA, February 17, 1946, he was the son of the late Mildred Hammond Smith Carpenter and the late Cecil Simon Shetford Smith. He was a graduate of Elbert County High School in 1964 where he was a football player and co-captain of the Blue Devils under Coach lee Atkinson. He attended Georgia Southern University. He became a Master Mason then ultimately a Shriner. The majority of his adult life he was self employed as a private home builder, home inspector and real estate agent.  He is survived by his son Milton Charles "Chuck" Smith, II and his fiancé Holly Bullard Cahn, daughter Rebecca Jean Irvin (husband Chris), granddaughter Mallory Jean Irvin, grandson Braden Chase Irvin of Cartersville, GA, sisters Carole Talbot (husband Bill) & Ann Brown of Elberton, GA, brothers Cecil Smith (wife Frances) of Franklin, NC, Robert H. Smith (wife Barbara) of Williamsburg, VA, nephews Chad Smith, Rob Smith, Trey Talbot, Ryan Brown, nieces Wendy Smith, Jamie Smith, Kristi Smith, Leslie Talbot Armstrong, Allison Brown Hayes, Crystal Brown. Visitation will be at Berry Funeral Home in Elberton, GA 10:30AM-12PM on Tuesday, January 18. A Memorial service will be held immediately following visitation with Rev. Russell Bruce officiating. Inurnment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery.
