Mona Ann Hughes Ballew

Mrs. Mona Ann Hughes Ballew, 65, of Bowman Highway, Elberton, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2014, at her residence. Ms. Ballew was born in Anderson, SC on November 9, 1948, to the late Harold, Sr. and Clara Ruth Adams Hughes. She was a caretaker for the elderly and attended Bowman Church of God. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Chad Ballew of Bowman and Teresa Ballew of Elberton; siblings, Gloria Chastain of Hartwell, Mark Hughes of Hartwell, Mike Hughes of Elberton, Tim Hughes of Elberton, Harry Hughes of Pigeon Forge, TN, Elaine Dove of Bowman, Sandra Phillips of Sandy Cross, and Carol Hughes of Bowman; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Ballew. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, January 19, at 2:00p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Revs. Leon Suttles and Stacey Lynch officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery with Tim Hughes, Timmy Hughes, Lance Brown, Justin Amos, Ronnie Welborn and Ricky Herring honored as pallbearers. The family is at the residence of Teresa Ballew, 1959 Tanglewood Drive, Elberton, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Saturday evening.
