Mrs. Joel Hall Norman, 90, of Elberton, Georgia,entered into rest peacefully Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Spring Valley Nursing Home with her family at her side. Mrs. Norman was born in Hart County to the late Joel and Nannie M. Hall.She was married to the late Albert Spires Norman, Sr.,and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Norman was very giving in her devotion to her church and community.She was a long-time member of The First United Methodist Church of Elberton,and was a member of the Manning Coed Class. She enjoyed participating in Life Enrichment activities.Mrs. Norman was a seamstress, and enjoyed crafts such as needlework, crocheting, and painting ceramics.She was also a member of the GCIAand volunteered for The Salvation Army.In years gone by,Mrs. Norman and her husband enjoyed being part of the Rambling Rockers and the Dixie Drifters Camping Clubs.Most of all, Mrs. Norman loved spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Norman is survived by three daughters: Linda Fortson (Hoke) of Austell, GA , Ann Haynes of Jonesboro, GA,Deany Edmonds (Ken) of Decatur, GA,;one son, Albert S. Norman, Jr. (Carol); six grandchildren, and one great-grandson.Mrs. Norman also leaves behind one brother, Jimmy Hall (Bobbie Sue) of Elberton, GA.She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Robert Haynes. A service to celebrate Mrs. Norman’s life will be Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at The Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home, with Rev. Wayne Smithofficiating.Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday from 1:00-2:30 prior to the service.Interment will be at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
