Mrs. Myrtle Inez O’Neal Rousey, 97, of Delhi Road, Tignall, wife of the late James Ellis Rousey, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at the residence of her great-granddaughter.
Mrs. Rousey was born in Dallas, GA on August 4, 1922, daughter of the late Joseph Edward O’Neal and Ida Bell Haney O’Neal. She was a homemaker and a member of Tabor Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and canning food.
Survivors include her children: James Wendell Rousey and Clara Bell Tate, both of Tignall; sisters: Mae Echols of Tignall and Rachel Dobson of Marietta; grandchildren: David Tate, April (Chuck) Canter, Brian (Danielle) Rousey, Robbie (Amanda) Rousey, Ashley Rousey, and Julie (Jack) Williams; great-grandchildren: Megan (Emmanuel) Hester, Brittany and Dylan Canter, Caitlin and Danielle Tate, Ashton, Carter, Reagan, Brooklyn, and Kennedy Rousey; Lane Starrett, and Emma Williams; great-great-grandchildren: Matson, Zach, and AJ Hester, RJ Carrithers, and one on the way; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Charles Edward Rousey; and siblings: Bud O’Neal, Carl O’Neal, Mary Frances Maner, Lewis O’Neal, Ovaline Rakestraw, Louise Mayfield, and Willie T. Mayfield.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, June 25, at 3 o’clock at Tabor Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul C. Reviere officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Dylan Canter, Carter Rousey, Brian Rousey, Robbie Rousey, David Tate, and Ken Fain honored as pallbearers. Mrs. Rousey will lie instate for one hour prior to the service.
The family is at the residence of Megan and Emmanuel Hester, 282 Heard Road, Tignall, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Wednesday, June 24.
Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in her memory to Tabor Baptist Church Building Fund.
