Nina Louise Creeger Long, 98, of Washington, died Friday, April 26, 2013, at Elbert Memorial Hospital. She was born March 1, 1915, in Tiffin, Ohio, second of four children born to Harley Burdette and Lola Mable Hoffman Creeger. Her family moved from Ohio to Montana then to Luverne, Minnesota. She graduated from Luverne High School in 1933 and attended Drake University. She married her high school sweetheart, Mike Long on December 28, 1937. They were married for 60 years until his death in 1997. Mike's coaching career moved them to Florida where he coached at several high schools before moving to Tallahasee to accept a coaching position at Florida State University. After his retirement they divided their time between their summer home in Glenville, NC and Tallahassee, FL. They moved to Glenville full time in 1988. Mrs. Long had lived the last year in Georgia. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Richard Hoffman Creeger; sisters, Dortha Christine Creeger Rath and Ida Arline Creeger Anders; son, Steven Richard Long; and husband, Leighton Simon "Mike" Long. She is survived by sons, Terry Long, Curtiss Long, Jim Long, and a daughter, Susan Long Brown; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be Wednesday, May 1, at 11:00 a.m. in Roselawn Cemetery, Tallahassee, Florida. Berry Funeral Home, Elberton, GA is in charge of all arrangements.
