Ophelia Hughes Hunt Williams

Mrs. Ophelia Hughes Hunt Williams, 69, of Lavonia, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020, at AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson, SC.

As triplets, Ophelia, her sister Phyllis, and her brother Phillip were born in Elberton on November 17, 1951, children of the late John Henry Hughes and Alice Sue Allen Hughes. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant having retired from Spring Valley Health Care Center after many years of service, and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Billy ‘Frank’ Williams, Sr.; children: Denise (Haven) Anderson of Elberton, Cedric (Frances) Hughes of Dothan, AL, and Kelisha Hughes of McDonough; siblings: Phyllis Lewis of Elberton, Bobbie Sue Allen of Royston, Donnie (Patricia) Hughes, Ronnie (Shirley) Hughes, Johnny Howard Hughes, and Eugene Hughes, all of Elberton; step-children: Xavier Hunt, Stanley Hunt, Carl Johnson, Nelson (Trina) Williams, Tanika (Tory) Bowman, Pamela (Malachi) Robertson, Jason Williams, Frank (Capri) Williams, Jr., and Chris (Marian) Williams; sister-in-law, Adell Hughes; aunt, Everlena Alexander; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Phillip Hughes, Willie James Hughes, and Walter Lewis Hughes.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, December 30, at 11 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ophelia will lie in state at Berry Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 29, from 12:00-5:00p.m. for those wishing to pay their respects and sign the guestbook.
