Orene Gaines Ward

Mrs. Orene Gaines Ward, age 92, of Elberton, passed away July 18, 2009 in Spring Valley Health Care Center. Mrs. Ward was born in Elbert County to the late Lawrence S. Gaines and Marvin Adams Gaines.She was a lifelong member of Rock Branch Baptist Church.She was retired from Bellcraft Mfg. Co. in Hartwell.She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, T. Jamie Ward; her son Thomas Ray Ward, her granddaughter, Lynn Carter, 8 brothers and 1 sister. She is survived by her daughters, Pat (Joe) Stovall of Elberton, Martha (Coy) Moon of Elberton, Linda (Donny)Callaway of Lancaster, SC; grandchildren, Michael Stovall of Peachtree City, Ken Stovall of Atlanta, Debbie Gaffney of Cumming, Scott Carter of Athens, Michelle Morrison of Comer, Marcus Moon of Comer, Don Callaway of Lancaster, SC, Kevin Callaway of Clemmons, NC; 9 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Lula Brown of Anderson, SC, Betty Shorter of Columbia, SC. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 19, 2009 at 3:00 PM in Hicks Funeral Home Chapel.Rev. Ken Wright and Rev. Ed Sayer will be officiating.Interment will follow at Rock Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 – 3:00 at the funeral home prior to the service.Flowers are accepted or donations can be made to Rock Branch Baptist Church Family Life Center in the name of Mrs. Ward.
