Orlan Dean Berkland

Orlan Dean Berkland age 78, of 1393 Lincolnton Highway died Wednesday, December 10, 2008 He was born in Ringsted Iowa,the son of Alfred Emil Berkland and Josephine Lee. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Korean War, and a member of Bethel E. Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Betty Berkland; sons, Dan Berkland of Elberton Sr. of Elberton, Mark Berkland, Sr. of Orlando, FL, and Tim Berkland of Elberton; nineteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother, Wayne Berkland of Lincoln, NE. Graveside funeral Services will be held Sunday, December 14 at 3:00 PM in the Mausoleum Chapel of Forest Hills Memorial Park with Reverend Rand Freer officiating.The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon 1:00 – 2:30 PM at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Bethel E. Baptist Church of Elberton. Hicks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
