Patricia Elizabeth Winn McConnell, 77,long-term resident of Elberton, Georgia died May 31, 2016 at AnMed Medical Center in Anderson, SC. Patricia was born July 12, 1938 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.She was the daughter of the late Robert Dean Winn and Winifred Ramsdale Winn. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Lawson Jackson McConnell; daughter Kathleen Laura Korotzer and son-in-law Gary Korotzer of Piedmont, California, grandchildren Turner Joshua Korotzer and Nicholas Carroll Korotzer; son Lawson Jackson McConnell, Jr. and daughter-in-law Jenny Brown McConnell, grandchildren Lawson Chandler McConnell and Mary Margaret McConnell; brother Thomas Wayne Winn (Margaret) of Estero, FL; niece Mary Winn Fons of Rochester Hills, Michigan and nephew Bob Winn of Sedalia, Colorado.Patricia is also survived by her sister-in-law Alice McConnell Eberhardt of Spartanburg, SC; nephew Linton W. Eberhardt, IV of New York, NY and niece Laura Eberhardt Stille of Spartanburg, SC. Patricia attended public schools in Kalamazoo, Michigan and Michigan State University. She began her career as a Dental Technician in San Diego, California. Patricia was a member of the Elberton First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Mary Freeman Sunday School Class and the Monday Morning Covenant Group.Patricia was a member of the Iris Garden Club and in previous years had served her community as past president of the Civic League and was an active member of the Elbert Memorial Hospital Auxillary. Patricia’s dedication to her family was well known by all.Her special talents in cooking, gardening, flower arranging, family event planning and home decorating brought immense joy to her family every day. Patricia was a talented artist, over the years learning many arts and crafts including needlepoint, embroidery, tole painting, decoupage, and china painting.Patricia enjoyed playing tennis and participating in regional competitions. She was a dedicated member of her book club and enjoyed reading and discussing books with family and friends. Patricia was an active member of her bridge club, The Traveling Trumps. Patricia and Jack enjoyed traveling around the United States and other destinations worldwide, with a special love of their time at Clarks Hill Lake in Georgia and their second home in Cashiers, North Carolina. Patricia was the model of elegance, strength and integrity throughout her life.She studied the Bible and lived by the highest of Christian values, a perfect example to all who knew her of how to live a life blessed by grace and truth. A memorial service was held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Elberton with Rev. Joe Watson officiating.A private interment followed at Elmhurst Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 398, Elberton, Georgia 30635. Service arrangements for Mrs. Patricia Elizabeth Winn McConnell were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Elberton.
