Patsy Reeves Griffith, 75, of Elberton, daughter of the late Ralph Rodney and Mary Seymour Reeves, died on Friday, May 21, 2010 at Athens Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 24, 2010 at 11AM from the Elberton First Presbyterian Church with Revs. Bill Mounts and Mike Woods officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends from 7-9PM Sunday night at Hicks Funeral Home. Flowers are optional, and those desiring may send donations to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Atlanta or to the Elberton First Presbyterian Church. The family has asked Chandler Barton, Gary Bennett, Wayne Brown, Larry Veal, Pete Anderson, and Charles Fortson to serve as pallbearers. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Paul Frank Griffith, Sr. She is survived two daughters and sons-in-law, Maria Mariorenzi and her husband Michael of Cranston, Rhode Island and Patricia Griffith and Andrew Guthrie of Atlanta; son and daughter-in-law, Paul Frank, Jr. and Cindy Childs Griffith of Hartwell; three granddaughters, Michelle Mariorenzi of Rhode Island, Stephanie Mariorenzi of Vermont, and Grace Guthrie Griffith of Atlanta; four grandsons, Robert E. Lee, IV of Madrid, Spain, Michael C. Mariorenzi of Massachusetts, Cory Sauls and his wife Ashley of Commerce, and Zachery Griffith of Hartwell; three great-grandchildren, Ava Rose and Brennan Reeves Sauls of Commerce and Nicole Lee Brown of Rhode Island; and one sister, Rosa Reeves Christian of Elberton. Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. She was a 1953 graduate of Elberton High School and valedictorian of her class. After graduating, she attended Clemson College and was retired from the U.S. Department of Energy, Southeastern Power Administration after 35 years of federal service. She was an elder of the Elberton First Presbyterian Church, a member of Past Moderators of Presbyterian Women, the Elbert Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Elbert Memorial Hospital Foundation, the Elbert County Historical Society, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Elbert County Chamber of Commerce, the Humane Society of Elbert County, Elks Lodge NO. 1100, Clemson IPTAY Association, the Friendship Club of the Elberton First United Methodist Church, and the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Committee for Elbert County.
