Paul Grizzell, Sr.

Joseph Paul Grizzell, Sr., 80, of 1050 Petersburg Road, Elberton, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at Nancy Hart Nursing Center. Mr. Grizzell was born in Baldwin, Georgia, November 16, 1931, to the late Joseph Emer Grizzell and Nellie Mae Killebrew Grizzell. He was retired from the granite industry and a U.S. Air Force Veteran. Paul was a member of Elberton First Baptist Church and Gideons International. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Madden Sanders Grizzell; sons, Emory Paul Grizzell of Dewy Rose, Joseph Paul Grizzell, Jr. of Dewy Rose, and Timothy Michael Grizzell of Athens; brother, Alvin Mitchell "Bogie" Grizzell of Elberton; sister, Verona Raines of Greenwood, South Carolina; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Irene Johnson Grizzell. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 2PM Sunday, September 2, in the Elberton First Baptist Church with the Reverends Raymond Scott and Kenneth Dietle officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery. The Grizzell family is at their respective homes and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6-8PM Saturday evening. Flowers will be accepted.
