Philip Sanford Butler

Mr. Philip Sanford Butler, Sr., of Elberton, Georgia passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017. A native of Elberton, Mr. Butler was preceded in death by his parents Hugh Dorsey Butler, Sr. and Olive Maisenbacher Butler and a brother Hugh Dorsey Butler, Jr. of Atlanta.Phil was an avid traveler, lover of good music and fine food. Mr. Butler was a graduate of the University of Georgia and was for many years the President of Townler Corporation.He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Chandler Butler; son, Philip Sanford Butler II, of Athens; daughters, Sullivan Butler Kellum of Elberton, and Dr. Samantha Butler Benson of Alpharetta. He is also survived by his brother Donald R. Butler of Jupiter, Florida.He leaves seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. A graveside memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 16, 2017, at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Elberton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in his memory be made to the National Kidney Foundation, www.kidney.org.
