Rachel Amanda Brown, 84, went home to be with her Lord and loved ones on Jan. 14, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Sallie B. and Dempsey Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Brown, Sr. Sisters, Alma Gaines, Dessie Gunnells, and Myrtice Jones, Brothers, Joe Mack Brown, Sr., Marvin "Bud" Brown, J.D. Brown, Comer Brown, and a grand-daughter Lisa Anderson. She is survived by her daughter, Sara Anderson, son, James A. "Jimmy" Brown, Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth "Liz" Brown. Grandchildren, Vernon Anderson, Barry and Tenna Anderson, Bruce and Tracy Brown, and Brian and Erin Brown. 11 great-grandchildren. Sister: Fannie Ruth McDowell, of Bowman, and brother, Frank H. Brown, of North Augusta, S.C., and a number of nieces and nephews. She was a member of Elberton Christian Chruch where her services will be held on Sunday Jan. 17 at 3 PM. Officiating will be pastors, Rev. Jay Akin, Rev. Bill Eaton, and Rev. Byron Miller. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday at Berry Funeral Home. The family will be at the home, 102 Forest Hill Dr. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Vernon Anderson, Barry Anderson, Bruce Brown, Brian Brown, Nephews: Alan Brown, and Anthony Brown. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Prime Timers Sunday School Class. Flowers are optional and memorials may be made to Elberton Christian Church, Debt Reduction Fund, 1128 Calhoun Falls Hwy.,Elberton or to Saint Marys Hospice House, P.O. Box 6588, Athens GA. 30604. Berry Funeral Home in charge of the funeral arrangements for Rachel Amanda Brown.
