Rachel Greenway Daniel of 530 Rhodes Drive, Elberton, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2010, after sharing a lifetime of devotion and love with family and friends. Born in Elbert County, Rachel was the daughter of the late Elmer and Lillian Smith Greenway.She was married 65 years to the late Everett E. Daniel and worked with him in their family owned business, Daniel Oil Company.She was the mother of three children, Rodney E. Daniel, Gail D. Harper, and Connie D. Spivey all of Elberton.She is survived by seven grandchildren, Keith Harper and Mark Harper both of Elberton, Melanie Sigler of Watkinsville, Forrest Daniel and Sterling Daniel both of Elberton, Clint Wilhite, currently stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, and Reid Wilhite of Denver, Colorado.She was preceded in death by one grandson, Kyle Wilhite.Surviving great grandchildren include McKenzi Harper, Jake Harper, Kimberlyn Daniel, and Taylor Wilhite all of Elberton and Harper and Rachel Sigler of Watkinsville.Many family memories were treasured with “Muner”.Additionally, Rachel is survived by one sister, Lenice Thompson of Laurens, South Carolina. Rachel’s talents were shared during her memberships in the Iris Garden Club and the Elbert Memorial Auxiliary “Pink Ladies”.She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elberton and served in the Friendship Sunday School Class. Rachel thoroughly enjoyed hosting and entertaining family members with her cooking and decorating abilities.Her home was a vital place that brought contentment and enjoyment throughout her lifetime.She enjoyed flower gardening, traveling, reading and sharing Southern hospitality with others.Her boundless energy allowed her to enjoy her active lifestyle throughout her eighties. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 2, 2010, at Forest Hills Cemetery with the Reverend Ken Whitfield officiating.Visitation will be at Hicks Funeral Home from 9:30-10:30 AM.
