Mr. Ray Mattox, 80, of Centerville Road, Lexington, husband of the late Zelma Lee Noggle Mattox, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Brookside in Commerce.
Mr. Mattox was born in Lexington on July 19, 1944, son of the late Milton Parks Mattox and Annie Ruth Gunter Mattox. In addition to his work in textile and as a mechanic, Ray worked at Star Granite Company.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jeneine and Gary Bond; grandchildren: Brittany and Zach Fields and Christie and Steven Phillips; great-grandchildren: Landon Fields, Olivia Fields, Ameila Phillips, and Elliot Phillips; step-great-grandchildren: Bentley Bond, Brantlee Bond, Maverick White, William Bond, Asher Bond, and Sutton Bond; brother, Morris Mattox; sister, Martha Hall; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Kevin Ray Mattox; daughter, Myranda Lee Mattox; step-grandchildren: Ashley Bond and Regis Bond; and brothers: Milton Mattox, Gene Mattox, and Johnny Mattox.
The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends on Sunday, January 5, from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.
Funeral services celebrating Ray’s life will be conducted on Monday, January 6, at 2:00p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church with the Rev. Derek Paul officiating. He will be laid to rest among his wife and children in the church cemetery.
