Dr. Ray Simon Yetzina, 95, of Winns Mill Road, Royston, GA, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018, at his home.
Dr. Yetzina was born August 9, 1922, in Dixon City, PA to August Yetzina and Cecelia Lukasqewski Yetzina. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was a retired Educator.
In a letter to his son, Ray wrote: “A moment of relaxation prompts this note. I love to write epistles to you because they resurrect fond memories of your growing and learning and the true bond of family that connects us.” Ray loved his family, teaching, quietly reflecting on his religion, and writing, especially his flowery epistles and poems, searching for peace and clarity. His last wish was to see his immediate family and grandchildren. His Christmas wish was fulfilled.
His immediate family includes his loving wife, Betty Polsgrove Yetzina; doleful daughter and son-in-law, Laura & James Holmes of Royston, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Tim & Alma Yetzina of Columbus, OH and grandchildren: Ani & Ewa Yetzina, Quillie & Quinton Holmes.
Dr. Yetzina was cremated and a private memorial mass will be held at a later date.
Contributions may be made in his memory to St. Mary's Catholic Church Building Fund, 1009 Benson St, Hartwell, GA 30643.
Berry Funeral Home & Crematory of Elberton is assisting the family of Dr. Ray Simon Yetzina.
