Mr. Raymond Lamar Bass, Sr., 83, of Elberton, Georgia passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at his residence. Mr. Bass was born in Webster County, Georgia, to the late James Carlton Bass, Sr. and Alice Blankenship Bass.He was the husband of Willie Mae Price Bass, with whom he had celebrated 64 years of marriage.Mr. Bass worked for over 19 years for Georgia Feed and Hatchery, then later worked as a carpenter in the construction business. He was a member of New Bethel United Methodist Church, and will always be remembered for his motto, “May the Good Lord take a liking to you.” In addition to his wife, Willie Mae Bass, Mr. Bass is survived by his daughters: Lavenia Bass Baxter of Cheraw, SC, and Georgia Bass Corn (Eddy) of Hiawassee.He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Charles Corn (Summer) of Ray City, Lydia Corn of Young Harris, and Kyle Bass and Mark Bass, both of Elberton; and two great-grandchildren: Eden and Ezra Corn. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bass was preceded in death by his son, Raymond Lamar Bass, Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Pamela Hulme Bass; and a son-in-law, Andrew Baxter. He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Allen T. Bass, James C. Bass, Jr., and Albert L. Bass; and one sister, Louise B. Bryant. A service to celebrate Mr. Bass’ life was held on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at New Bethel United Methodist Church, with Rev. Richard Jarvis officiating.Interment followed in the church cemetery. A time of visitation was held on Wednesday evening at Hicks Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m.Flowers were graciously accepted. Arrangements for Mr. Raymond Lamar Bass, Sr. were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
