Mr. Raymond D. King, 84, of Elberton, Georgia passed away Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Elbert Memorial Hospital. Mr. King was born in Elbert County on November 1, 1928 to the late Fannie Vickery and Robert B. King. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Beth Kay King. He was co-owner of Elberton Tire and Recapping after selling the business he went to work for Claude Ray Ford Sales where he later retired. He is survived by a son: David King and his wife Deborah; a daughter: Jan Eavenson and her husband Ronnie; grandchildren: Toni King, Katrina King, Kelly Coker and her husband Scottie, and Kevin Eavenson and his wife Beth; two great-grandchildren:Brendon and Addison Coker. He is also survived by a brother-in-law: Virgil Kay and his wife Jane of Hartwell. In addition to his wife and parents he is also preceded in death by a sister: Ruby Smith; brothers: Loyd King, Clyde King, Marvin King and Ralph King: and a sister-in-law JoAnne Skelton and her husband Kenneth. A service to celebrate Mr. King’s life will be held Friday, September 27, 2013 in the Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home at 4:00 p.m. with the Reverends Bill Eaton and Bryan Smith officiating. Visitation for Mr. King will be from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. just prior to the service at HicksFuneral Home. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to TJ and Friends, P. O. Box 6161, Elberton, Georgia or Concord United Methodist Church, 2503 Harmony Road, Elberton, Georgia 30635. The family will be at their respective homes.
