Rebecca "Becky" Thornton Thomasson

Mrs. Rebecca "Becky" Elaine Thornton Thomasson, 70, of Danburg Street, Tignall, wife of Wayne Thomasson, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2014, at her residence. Mrs. Thomasson was born January 20, 1944 in Washington, GA to the late Thomas P. and Nina Walker Thornton. Mrs. Thomasson was employed by Belk Gallant Department Stores from 1966-2001. She served as the manager during most of her career. After retiring from Belk's in 2001, she was employed by F&M Bank of Tignall. She alone with Lewis Roane and others jointly operated the Old Store, a gift shop, in Tiger, GA. She enjoyed china painting, clay sculpturing, gardening as well as entertaining with family and friends. She was a dedicated member of Fishing Creek Baptist Church and was a devoted wife, mother, sister and aunt. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 50 years, Wayne Thomasson of the home; one daughter Lynn Thomasson of Tignall, GA; three sisters Emma Jean Jones, Marilyn Newsome both of Washington, GA; Jo Ann Hart of Beech Island, SC and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers; Robert Thornton and Jimmy Thornton. A celebration of her life will be held at Fishing Creek Baptist Church, Sunday, September 7 at 3PM with Reverend Roy D. Cates, Sr. officiating. Honorary pallbearers will include Henry Holsenback, Joe Pool, Frankie Ware, Booby Danner, Fain Burnette, John Crouch, Lester Gales, Charles Turner and Frank Galofaro.
