Rebecca Frances Maxwell Threlkeld

Mrs. Rebecca Frances “Becky” Maxwell Threlkeld, 84, of Hartwell Highway, Elberton, wife of the late Olin Eugene Threlkeld, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at her daughter’s home in Bowman.

Mrs. Threlkeld was born in Elberton on June 12, 1938, daughter of the late Bodie and Bessie Lou Warren Maxwell. She was a weaver having retired from Elberton Mills and later enjoyed working at SkyCity. Becky was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church and participated in most church events as long as her health permitted. An avid sports fan, she loved the Atlanta Braves baseballl, rollerskating, and enjoyed playing basketball. Some of Becky's most memorable trips were to the beach where she loved collecting seashells.

Above all, Becky’s pride and joy was her family. She was the proud mother of six children: the late Michael “Turk” Threlkeld, Janet Adams of Bowman, Monty Threlkeld of Melbourne, FL, Chris Threlkeld of Elberton, Judy (Brent) Craft of Anderson, SC, and Jennifer (Mark) Kimbel of Colbert. She is also survived by sisters: Martha Hart of Royston, Nancy (Fred) Hall of Elberton, and Margaret Covar of Aiken, SC; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, childhood sweetheart and husband of nearly 60 years, Olin, and son, Turk, she is preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Donna Threlkeld.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at 2 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Vaughn officiating. Interment will be in Elmhurst Cemetery.

The family is at the home of Janet Adams, 248 W. Hendricks Street, Bowman, and will greet friends immediately following the service.

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in her memory to T.J. & Friends Foundation, PO Box 6161, Elberton, GA 30635.
