Mr. Reginald Rudolph Owens, 82, of Lincolnton Highway, Elberton, died on Monday, March 22, 2021, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.

Mr. Owens was born in Elberton on March 27, 1938, son of the Joseph Lester Owens and Polly Angeline “Ann” Brown Owens. He was a 1956 graduate of Elberton High School and a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. Following discharge, Reg worked in various occupations; however, many will remember him from the Elberton Skating Rink as well as a dispatcher from the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office. Reg Owens was a musician, artist, author, husband, father, Papa, and lover of Jesus.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Serena Price Owens; children: Tammy and Roy Neel, Tim and Tami Owens, and Terry and Kim Owens; grandchildren: Ashlynn Adank, Brittany Neel, Jeffrey Neel, Andrew Neel, Carley Holland, Christopher Hanley, Whitney Ballenger, and Nikki Bearden; great-grandchildren: Ana Adank, Ethan Adank, Drake Holland, Colton Holland, Bella Anderson, Nina Ballenger, and Pryor Bearden; and numerous other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers: Bobby Owens and Jerry Owens.
