Rev. James Samuel "Jim" Spooner, 76, of 157 Lillian Strong Road, Carlton, GA., widow of Joanne Carpenter Spooner, died Saturday, June 26, 2010. Born in Fort Lauderdale, FL., he was a son of the late James Dewy Spooner and Julia Dorothy Arms Spooner. He was a retired school teacher and Methodist Minister. Survivors include a daughter: Ruth Spooner Wooten, of Carlton, GA., Son: James W. "Jim" Spooner, of Monroe, GA. Sister: Jane Stevens McElveath, of Cartersville, GA. Brothers: George Roger Spooner of Byron, GA., and John D. Spooner of Aikin, S.C. 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter: Julia Ann Spooner Pattison. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday June 30 at Francis Asbury United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Asbury Cemetery in Otto, N.C.;. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at Berry Funeral Home. The family has requested memorials to be made to Francis Asbury United Methodist Church Missions. Berry Funeral Home in charge of the funeral arrangements for Rev. James Samuel "Jim" Spooner.
