Rev. Raymond Lamar Bass, Jr.

God called his faithful servant, Rev. Raymond Lamar Bass, Jr., 51, of 1201 Turner Road, Montevideo Community, home on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Lamar was born in Elbert County, April 27, 1961, to Raymond Lamar, Sr. and Willie Mae Price Bass. He was a carpenter, cabinet maker, and a member of Sardis Baptist Church. Lamar was a licensed ordained minister in both the Wesleyan and Baptist Churches. He was a former assistant Pastor at Fellowship Wesleyan Church in Iva, SC, Pastor of Welcome Wesleyan Church in Elberton, Pastor of children and youth at Rock Branch Baptist Church, and Youth Pastor at Sardis Baptist Church. Rev. Bass volunteered as Hart County Little League Baseball Coach, Hartwell YMCA Soccer Coach, and Church League Basketball Coach. He was a member of Tri-County Home Educators and a former Cub Scout Leader Pack 28 in Hartwell. Surviving are his wife, Pamela Elizabeth Hulme Bass of the home; sons, Kyle Lamar Bass and Mark Daniel Bass, both of the home; parents, Raymond and Willie Mae Bass of Elberton; sisters, Lavenia and Andrew Baxter of Cheraw, SC and Georgia and Eddy Corn of Hiwassee, GA; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edwin and Jackie Hulme of Elberton; nephews and nieces, Charles Edward and Summer Corn, Lydia Diane Corn, Heather H. and Ronald Mooney, and Jeremy Hulme; and great-nephews, Justin and Jackson Mooney. Funeral services will be held at 2PM Saturday, December 22, in the Sardis Baptist Church with Dr. Nita M. Crump, Mr. Wayne Ward, Rev. Allen Carmichael, and Rev. Tim Gaines officiating. Interment will follow in the New Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Jeremy Hulme, Charles Corn, Kevin Price, Jerry Price, Mickey Teasley, and Bobby Howell honored as pallbearers. The family is at the residence, 1201 Turner Road, and at the residence of his parents, 2932 Green Acres Road. The family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6-8PM Friday evening.
