The Rev. Steve Forsythe of Charlotte, NC, former pastor of Falling Creek Baptist Church in Elberton, husband of Libby Littlepage Forsythe, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 10, 2015. He was born May 15, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan. He was the only son of Sheridan and Lula B. Forsythe. Steve was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, nephew, uncle and friend. He was “Papa” to four beautiful grandchildren. Steve was blessed with a beautiful singing voice that he used for the Lord from the age of 15. He sang in youth choirs, with quartets, and led music in several churches throughout the years. Steve was also a Minister of the Gospel. He pastored Falling Creek Baptist Church in Elberton, GA for 15 years and pastored Harvest Church in Elberton before moving to Charlotte, NC. Steve loved life, he loved his family, he loved the church, and most importantly he loved the Lord. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Libby; one daughter, Lori Hannigan and husband, Bill of Lawrenceville, GA. One son, Jay Forsythe, his wife Erin and four grandchildren, Baer, Bren, Bexlyn, and Balan Forsythe, of Charlotte, NC. His father, Sheridan “Dan” Forsythe, Ellenton, FL and three sisters, Dawn Berry, Paducah, KY; Cindi Ashby, and Tricia Cooper, Nashville, TN. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lou Forsythe, grandparents Charles & Dorothy Forsythe, James A. Easley and Jeanette Bohannon. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, September 17, from 5:00-7:00p.m. at Grapevine Baptist Church in Madisonville, KY. Funeral services will follow at 7:00p.m. in the church. Burial will take place on Friday, September 18, 2015 at Grapevine Cemetery. Immediate and extended only for the burial service.
