Richard Edgar Stratton

Richard Edgar Stratton, 66, of 2436 Anderson Highway, Elberton, husband of Joy Welborn Stratton, died Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Elbert Memorial Hospital. Born in Clarke Country, he was a son of the late Omer and Albina Gaines Stratton. He was a member of the Elberton Elks Lodge 1100 and the New Bethel United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Georgia Army National Guard and employed with Royston Sheet Metal LLC. Survivors include his wife, Joy W. Stratton; Daughter and son-n-law, Angela and Scott Oliver of Athens, daughter, Amanda Joy Stratton of Sarasota, Florida; son, Ricky E. Stratton of Elberton; sister, Dorothy Stovall of Statesville, NC; 4 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Monday July 27 at the New Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Benjamin Wiles officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 10:30 - 11:00 AM. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Dunn, Lanier Dunn, Neal Floyd, Ralph Adams, Leon Stratton Jr., Terry Stratton, Steve Stovall & Pat Lee. Flowers are optional and memorials may be made to the New Bethel United Methodist Chruch.
