Richard Franklin Layfield, age 74, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017.

Mr. Layfield was a native and resident of Milledgeville. He was retired from G&S Gas after spending over 40 years in the propane business. He was a founding member of the East Baldwin Fire Department and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a member and deacon of Black Springs Baptist Church, serving as deacon for over 30 years and was also a member of Carpenters for Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents Howard Franklin Layfield and Sarah Swint Smith Layfield, and his sister Virginia Smith Luke Snow.

Survivors include his wife Estelle Jackson Layfield of Milledgeville, two daughters Anne Fernandez and her husband David of Elberton and Stacey Flury and her husband Bill of Milledgeville, his brother Warren Layfield (Janet) of Milledgeville, 3 grandchildren Makayla Flury, Amanda Fernandez and Matthew Fernandez and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11AM Saturday, January 21, at Black Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Starr and Rev. David Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 5-7PM at Moores Funeral Home in Milledgeville.

Friends who wish may make contributions to Black Springs Baptist Church.
