Robert M. “Bobby” Delk, age 92, entered into rest on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 following a brief illness. Bobby was born in Athens and retired from Bellsouth after 30 years of service. He was a faithful member of Francis Asbury United Methodist Church where he worked tirelessly for the Lord and the advancement of the church. Bobby and Freida were staples in the Elberton community as owners of the Dairy Queen where they gave many Elbert County teenagers their first jobs. When Bobby was home, he enjoyed working in his yard or watching sports on television. Bobby never met a stranger, and he will be remembered for his easy-going spirit, his love for life, and his humility. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and Clayton Bradley; and an infant child, Robert Keith Delk. Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Freida A. Delk; son, Mitchell Delk (Amanda) of Washington, D.C.; two granddaughters, Sayer Delk of Los Angeles and Rosie Delk of Chicago; and brother, James C. “Jim” Delk (Carolyn) of Birmingham. Funeral services were held at 12 noon on Friday, May 20, 2022 in the Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Savelle officiating. Interment followed in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements for Robert M. “Bobby” Delk were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
