Robert Daniel Powell

Mr. Robert Daniel Powell, 67, of Elberton, Georgia passed away Friday, August 10, 2018 at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta. Mr. Powell was born in Atlanta, Georgia.. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Audrey Dianne Powell; two sons: Michael Powell (Latana) of Elberton, and Daniel Powell of Atlanta; daughter, Laura Powell of Spanish Fort, AL; and 17 grandchildren, along with his mother, Ellen Garrett Powell Easterwood of Tallassee, AL.He also leaves behind a sister, Jane Mills; and four brothers: Greg Powell, Allen Powell, Paul Mathews, and Scotty Easterwood. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Powell; a grandson, Aspen Powell; and a sister, Nancy Marsh. Mr. Powell was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps. After service to his country, he was a self-employed construction worker. While Mr. Powell had a great love for the outdoors, especially fishing and gardening, his greatest love was the love he had for his grandchildren. A time of visitation for family and friends was held on Sunday, August 12, 2018, and a funeral service was held on Monday, August 13, 2018 in The Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home. A graveside service with Military Honors was held in Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GAon Wednesday, August 15, 2018. Arrangements for Mr. Robert Daniel Powell were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
