Robert Verlyn Akins

Mr. Robert Verlyn Akins, 76, of Akins-Lunsford Road, Canon, GA husband of Mary Frances Phillips Akins, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2015, at his residence. Mr. Akins was born April 7, 1938 in Hart County, GA to the late Lee Akins and Bertha Jordan Akins. He was a U.S. Army Veteran where he served three years in Korea and a member of Bethany Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of the home Mary Frances Phillips Akins; sons Robert Neal Akins of Toccoa, GA; Roger Dale Akins of Canon, GA; Jimmy Ray Akins of Canon, GA; sisters Myra Carver of Hartwell, GA; Helen Hornick of Lavonia, GA and grandchild Richard P. Hilley. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Joey Davis Akins. Memorial services to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
