Mr. Robert 'Wayne' Wade, 74, of Raymond Anderson Road, Elberton, husband of Jannie Lee Brown Wade, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at his residence.
The youngest of ten children, Wayne was born in Elberton on July 28, 1949, son of the late Charles Eugene Wade and Mary Hortense Dispain Wade. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Doris Prince Moore, Dorothy Gaines, Sarah Beam, W.T. Wade, Williard Wade, Harold Wade, Janie Smith, and Franklin Wade.
A hard worker, he worked in his early years as a fireman for the City of Elberton. Wayne later worked alongside his brother at Wade Tool Company as a blacksmith before becoming a truck driver. After retiring from trucking, he worked for P&J Small Engines. He was a member of Coldwater Methodist Church and Philomathea Masonic Lodge #25. He was an avid woodworker and ham radio operator. Wayne’s generosity extended beyond his family as he was often helping those in need.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Jannie Lee Brown Wade; daughters and sons-in-law: Christy and Kent Guest and Denise and Trevor Wray, all of Elberton; grandchildren: Lance Wray, Logan Wray, and Clay Guest; brother and sister-in-law, George and LaRue Wade of Elberton; father-in-law, Benny Brown of Elberton; sister-in-law, and brother-in-law, Mary and Rev. Thomas Moon of Elberton; special friend, Pete Hunt of Elberton; beloved companion, Buttons; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Memorial services celebrating Wayne's life will be held on Saturday, May 18, at 3:00p.m. at Coldwater Methodist Church with the Rev. Thomas Moon officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
