Rodney Eugene Daniel

Mr. Rodney Eugene Daniel, loving husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother, uncle, and friend to many, 84 years of age, of Elberton, GA entered into rest on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at his home surrounded by family.

Mr. Daniel was born in Elberton, GA on March 29, 1938, the son of the late Everett Eugene Daniel and Rachel Greenway Daniel. Upon his graduation from Elbert County High School in his beloved Class of 1956, he served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He served as a CPA for Royal Crown Cola after graduation from the University of Georgia. He later worked for the Etheridge CPA firm and several granite companies. He finished his professional career with IMEX International.

Rodney Daniel was an active member of the Elberton community in which he deeply loved. He achieved the distinction of Eagle Scout in his youth, and served as the President of the Class of 1956. He later served as a Rotarian, Athens Technical College Foundation Board of Trustees, Elbert County Commissioner, Deacon of First Baptist Church of Elberton, and Elder of First Presbyterian Church of Elberton. He served as a volunteer for the Upward Bound Basketball program and was a volunteer driver for cancer patients seeking their treatments.

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Lois Anne Nelson Daniel of Elberton, GA; sons: Forrest Eugene Daniel and Sterling Ewell Daniel (daughter in-law, Dr. Andrea Daniel), all of Elberton, GA; one granddaughter, Kimberlyn Daniel of Atlanta, GA; sisters: Gail Daniel Harper and Connie Daniel Spivey, both of Elberton, GA; and a host of nephews, nieces; and other family members.

He is preceded in death by three loving brothers-in-law: Horace Harper, Tom Wilhite, and Lee Nelson; and a nephew, Kyle Wilhite.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Bristol Hospice (Kaylee Dixon and Katy Harper, niece) and all of their other staff.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at 11 am at Forest Hills Memorial Park with the Reverend Jim Jackson and the Reverend Charles Romine officiating.
