Mr. Rodney Stuart “Rod” Seymour, 72, of Calhoun Falls Highway, Elberton, husband of 54 years to Annette Young Seymour, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at his residence.
Rod was born in Elberton on August 24, 1949, son of the late Joseph Virgil Seymour and Loretta Whitmire Seymour. He was a 1967 graduate of Elberton High School. Rod went to work with Hulme Advertising and later opened Rod’s Signs and Neon, totaling a career of nearly 55 years. A member of Bethel E Baptist Church, he had attended Elberton Christian Church for the last 30 years. In his spare time, Rod enjoyed riding on his tractor.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Annette, include his children: Rodney “Skeeter” Seymour (Amanda) of Dewy Rose, Stuart Seymour (Beth) of Elberton, Kimberly Bonds (Daniel) of Elberton, and Brett Seymour (Stacey) of Elberton; sister, Elaine Oglesby (Tom) of Elberton; grandchildren: Samantha Floyd (Greg), Brady Seymour (Anna), Brooke Seymour, Logan Bonds (Taylor), Landon Bonds, Talan Bonds, Bailee Seymour, Ashtyn Bonds, Declan Seymour, Colton Bonds, Greyson Bonds, and Carson Seymour; four great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild on the way.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Alan Seymour; and grandson, Jacob Bonds.
Memorial services celebrating Rod’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 25, at 4 o’clock at Elberton Christian Church. Burial will be private in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
The family is at the residence and will receive friends on Tuesday, May 24, from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.
Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
