Mr. Roger Keith Scoggins, 67, of Athens, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2024, at his residence.
Roger was born in Elberton on June 23, 1957, the youngest child of Monroe Merlin “Gopher” Scoggins and Jo Ella Chastain Scoggins. He was a member of Falling Creek Baptist Church, a 1975 graduate of Elbert County High School and furthered his education at Athens Technical College. He was the owner/operator of Kitchen Table Stereo, where, like his dad before him, specialized in repairing musical instruments. Roger loved anything musical, enjoyed playing the guitar with various bands, and was an avid fisherman.
In addition to his mother, Jo Ella of Elberton, he is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Kim Jones of Elberton; nephews and nieces: Kevin Ray Jones, Jeremy William Jones, Misti Dale Jones, Brad Jay Jones, and Kerri Nicole Jones; as well as a host of great-nephews, great-nieces, and other relatives.
Along with his father, he is preceded in death by his brother, Alan Wayne Scoggins.
Memorial services celebrating Roger’s life will be conducted on Monday, July 22, at 2:00p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Creason officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45p.m. prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice.
