Roland Henry Bridges, age 82, entered into rest on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 from complications of Agent Orange exposure.
Roland was born in Chattooga County, Georgia to the late Henry Fulton Bridges and Willena Dudley Bridges. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Heide Phillips-Bridges, his sister Mildred Hansford and his much-loved young daughter Kimberly Star Bridges.
Roland was a standout football player at Oglethorpe County HS and was offered a football scholarship at Alabama as a defensive linebacker before receiving the call to serve his country. Roland proudly served in the United States Army in Korea and Vietnam.
Roland is survived by his son, William Bridges (Amy) of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; step-children, Jimmy (Joyce) Fife, Richard (Misty) Fife, Wade Fife (Cassie Thompson), Adam (Christy) Phillips, Ronald (Donna) Phillips; and Teresa (Bronson) Guest. He also leaves behind grandchildren; David Fife, Michael Fife, Breanna Fife, Megan Fife, Jacob Fife, Noah Phillips, Cameron Fife, and Jaylaa Townsend; great-grandchildren, Harmony Fife and Braxton Bellew; and also many nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery at a later date.
