Ronald Jay Crawford

Ronald Jay Crawford, 75, of Bogart passed away Monday, February 24, 2025. He was the son of the late Luther Johnson Crawford and Roxie Reid Crawford.

Jay enlisted in the United States Air Force after his graduation from Elbert County High School. During the Vietnam War, he was stationed in Thailand where he worked in aircraft maintenance. While enlisted in the military, Jay earned his Bachelor’s degree and was commissioned as an officer. He continued to further his education and later earned a Master’s degree. Jay served in the Persian Gulf War before retiring from a career of 22 years in the United States Air Force. He loved his country and took great pride in his military service.

Jay was a man of strong faith. His relationship with Jesus Christ was a vital part of who he was. As a Christian, he was called to be involved in the life of the church. He loved being a member of the church choir and served in other capacities. He was a deacon, a Sunday school teacher, a discipleship leader and involved in youth ministry leadership.

Jay’s firm belief in the truth of God’s Word and the presence of Jesus Christ in his life enabled him to endure many health crises over the last 20 years of his life. He persevered and endured each hardship with great faith. Jay was an encouragement to many.

He is survived by his loving wife Amanda Crawford, children; Allie Melancon (Rusty), Staci Spivey (Kevin), Jonathan Crawford, sister Linda Dean (David), along with six grandchildren; Cole, Anna Cate, Emilyn, Jude, Will, and Emerson.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Susan Crawford.

A visitation will be held for Jay at Beech Haven Baptist Church on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 12:00 PM followed by a service at 2:00 PM. Interment to follow at Elmhurst Cemetery in Elberton, Georgia.
