Rose Alice Hill York died at her home surrounded by her family in Lavonia, Georgia on March 18, 2022 at the age of 83.

A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Rose was born at home on June 13, 1938 in Lavonia. She was one of four children born to the late Ben and Maycle Hill of Lavonia. She met and married Jim York in August 1960. She earned a degree at Atlanta Business School. Rose had a successful career as an accountant serving most of her time with Harbin Lumber Company in Lavonia for over 25 years. She retired in June 2002.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jim York, of Lavonia, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Maycle Hill of Lavonia. Surviving family members include daughter, Lisa (& Tom) Bradberry of Lavonia; son, Stewart (& Tracie) York of Elberton; brothers, Marvin (& Rachel) Hill of Westminster, SC, Herman (& Laura) Hill of Dallas, Ga and sister, Betty (& Tim) Cornett of Blairsville, Ga; grandchildren Chandler (& Hannah Ward, friend) York, USN Operations Specialist 2nd Class Connor (& Ixchel) York of Elberton, Ga, USAF Staff Sgt. Cross York of Elberton, Ga, and Elisabeth (& Zach) Mellott of Graniteville, SC; and step-grandsons, Seth Bradberry of Gainesville, Ga and Coley (& Taylor) Bradberry of Monroe, Ga.

She was a member of The Pointe Church where she served as a choir member, in the nursery department, and various other capacities. She loved her church and impacted so many lives because she loved everyone. She was a true servant and angel to those who loved her.
She was passionate about her family and spent her life providing a wonderful life for husband, children and grandchildren, beginning with her sister and brothers when she was growing up on her parent’s farm. She enjoyed gardening, growing plants and flowers around her house every year. She loved cooking delicious meals for her family. She traveled with her friends that she dearly loved around the country once she retired. Spending time outside was a favorite pastime. She was an exceptional Christian woman who loved the Lord, a prayer warrior, wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend.

The family will be receiving friends at Strickland Funeral Home in Lavonia on Monday, March 21, 2022 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at 1:00pm at The Pointe Church with Pastors Jerry Chitwood and Chad Smith officiating. Graveside services will be held at Franklin Memorial Gardens following the funeral.
