Mr. Roy Walter Alexander, 73,of the Rock Branch community, passed away peacefully at his home with his family at his side on Thursday, June 23, 2011. Mr. Alexander was born in Elbert County on January 22, 1938 to the late Worley C. and Maxie Sue Adams Alexander.He dearly loved his wife of 51 years, Ann Ward, and his precious children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. Mr. Alexander was an Army veteran and retired from The National Guard.He was well-known in Elbert County for his outstanding public service to this community as an Elbert County Commissioner. He worked in construction throughout his life and was also a cattle farmer. Mr. Alexander is survived by his precious wife, Ann Ward Alexander;children, Chris (Darlene) Alexander, Paula (Dwain) Harris, and Brad (Kacey) Alexander; grandchildren, Evan Alexander, Ethan Alexander, Andrew Harris, Grayson Harris, and Chase Alexander; and one great-grandchild, Eli Alexander.He is also survived by sisters, Mary H. Wright and Ruth Norman;and several nieces and nephews.Mr. Alexander was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Amos Alexander, and two sisters, Nora Shelton and Grace Jones. A celebration of the life of Mr. Roy Alexander will be Sunday, June 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Rock Branch Baptist Church, with Rev. Ken Wright and Rev. Ed Sayer officiating.Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, June 25 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hicks Funeral Home.Interment will be at the Rock Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
