Ruth Castellaw Brown

Ruth P. Castellaw Brown, 93, peacefully passed away in Elberton, GA to her heavenly home on March 19, 2023.

Ruth was the daughter of the late Emma C. Stowers and the late Travis R. Pickens.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Alma Watkins, and her three brothers, Andrew Pickens, Aubrey Pickens, and Marion Travis “Pick” Pickens.

She is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Benny Brown, of Elberton GA and two step-daughters, Jannie Wade (Wayne) and Mary Moon (Thomas) of Elberton.

She is also survived and loved by her only daughter, Kathy Coon, of Anderson SC, her two granddaughters, Christy Grindstaff (Chris), and Crystal Palmer (Drew), four great grandchildren, Jordan Grindstaff, Jesse Grindstaff, Jayla Grindstaff, and Lorelai Palmer, all in Anderson, SC. She also has many nieces and nephews.

Ruth attended Coldwater United Methodist Church and was a member of the Gideons Auxiliary.

Ruth had a passionate love for Christ and loved and cherished her family dearly.

She enjoyed gardening her flower beds and bringing the family together around the dinner table. Her family always knew that Ruth’s was a peaceful place to eat or rest.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 5:00 pm on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, in The Maple Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center, 1621 Pearman Dairy Road, Anderson, SC 29625.

A private burial will take place at a later time.

The family will be at the home of her daughter, Kathy in Anderson.
