Sallie Smith Alexander

Mrs. Sallie Elizabeth Smith Alexander, 90, of Elberton and Greenwood, wife of 50 years to the late Robert Earl Alexander, entered into rest on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Nancy Hart Nursing Center.

Mrs. Alexander was born in Elberton on June 27, 1928, daughter of the late Dewitt Talmadge Smith, Sr. and Velma Elizabeth Moore Smith Moon, and step-daughter of the late George Henry Moon. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Flatwoods Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Survivors include her sister, Louise Raborn; step-siblings, Walter Moon and Ruth Raborn, all of Greenwood; step-sister-in-law, Euree Moon of Royston; and countless nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, Dewitt Talmadge Smith, Jr.; step-siblings: Elmer, Aubry, Henry, J.E., Dorsey, Lewis and Philip Moon, Mildred Slay, Addie Stone, Mary Scarborough, Corine Kinard, and Mattie Lou Yeargin; and aunts who were raised in the home, Martha Moore Moon and Margaret Moore.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at 11 o’clock in Flatwoods Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Revs. Phillip Hart and Thomas Moon, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park.

The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Flowers are optional and contributions may be made in Mrs. Alexander’s memory to Flatwoods Pentecostal Holiness Church, 2353 Dr. George Ward Road, Elberton, GA 30635.
