Samuel Jackson "Buddy" Bell, Jr., 68, of 500 Millstone Church Road, Carlton, husband of Wanda Payton Bell, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Emory University Hospital. Born in St. Andrews, Florida June 18, 1944 to the late Samuel Jackson Bell, Sr. and Marie Lathan Bell. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of Millstone Baptist Church and was retired from Oglethorpe County where he was a heavy equipment operator. Left to cherish his memories are his wife Wanda E. Payton Bell; children Dana and Jeff Tiller of Elberton, Georgia; Kim and Jeff Smith of Carlton, Georgia; Jill Bell of Carlton, Georgia and Robbie Bell of Carlton, Georgia; siblings Joyce and Steve Black of Carlton, Georgia and Peggy and Rev. Jack McVeigh of Carlton, Georgia; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, March 16, at 3:00PM in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Reverend Jack McVeigh and Reverend David Burt officiating. Interment will follow in Falling Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Pete Mincey, David Mattox, Roger Grimes, Sammy Alewine, Bryan Smith and Chris Berry serving as pallbearers. The family is at the residence of his daughter, 478 Millstone Church Road, Carlton, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 1:00-3:00PM Saturday prior to the service.
