Sara Nell Funderburk

Mrs. Sara “Nell” Funderburk, 72, of Winterville, passed away September 5, 2020 at home.A native of Greenwood, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Resse Mae Segars Clay.She was the widow of Robert Eugene Funderburk, to whom she was married for 38 years before his passing in 2009. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Funderburk was preceded in death by a son, Robert Eugene Funderburk, Jr., brothers, Frank Clay, Loundy Clay and Wesley Clay and sister, Mary Jo Duckworth.Mrs. Funderburk had worked at Elberton Manufacturing.She loved family and especially her grandchildren. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, John and Tara Funderburk, Winterville; daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Patrick Glenn, Elberton; grandchildren, Robert Funderburk, Sara (Mia) Funderburk, Anna, Macala, McKenzie, and Jaxson Glenn; and sister, Theresa Hogan. Funeral services were held Monday, September 7, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in Concord United Methodist Church, with Rev. Thomas Moon officiating. Interment followed in Elmhurst Cemetery with Alex Clay, Jason Slater, Allen Dixon, Michael Donald and Blaine Edwards serving as pallbearers.A time of visitation began at 1:00 p.m. at the church, just prior to the service. Flowers were graciously accepted, and memorial contributions may be made to the Elbert County Humane Society.
