Sara Louise Brooks Hulme, 90, of Elberton, Georgia, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Elbert Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Hulme was born in Wilkes County to the late Robert Patton and Ruby Mae Thomasson Brooks.She was the widow of the late Clay Warren Hulme, Sr.Mrs. Hulme worked many years as a secretary and bookkeeper at Puritan Granite,and operated Village Smithy Antiques after retirement.She was also an avid reader and an exquisite poet and writer.Her family cherishes memories of her wonderful cooking, her beautiful flower gardens,and her talents as a seamstress. Mrs. Hulme is survived by a son, Warren Hulme;a daughter, Linda Dye;three grandsons:Scott Dye (Wendy), Derek Dye (Shari), and James Thomas Hulme;and four great-grandchildren: Justin, Emily, Suzanna, and Amelia Dye.She also leaves behind a sister, Mrs. J.W. (Patsy) Davis. In addition to her parents and husband,Mrs. Hulme was preceded in death by her brother, Clarence Brooks, and her son-in-law, Dan Dye. A celebration of Mrs. Hulme’s life will be Monday, November 21, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at The Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond Scott officiating.Visitation for family and friends will be Monday afternoon from 1:00-2:45 p.m. just prior to the service.Interment will follow at Elmhurst Cemetery.
