Mrs. Sarah Frances Gaines Wansley, 99, of Elberton, wife of 60 years to the late John Forest Wansley, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2020, at Elbert Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Wansley was born in Hart County on August 14, 1920, daughter of the late Hoyt William Gaines and Alma Ardilla Brown Gaines. She was a 1938 graduate of Centerville High School and a machine operator having retired from Elberton Manufacturing Company. Mrs. Wansley was a dedicated member of Concord United Methodist Church, and enjoyed sewing, reading, crocheting, taking photos, and gardening.
Survivors include her children: Ann Wansley Mercer and her husband Douglas of Elberton, Judy Wansley Mincey of Elberton, Lynne Wansley Robinson of Watkinsville, and Randall Wansley and his wife Marya of Buford; daughter-in-law, Linda Wiles Wansley of Toccoa; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and siblings: Martha Yarborough, Velvet Price, Wendy Holloway, Frank Gaines, and Gary Gaines; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her step-mother, Louise Dutton Gaines; son, Forest William Wansley; sons-in-law: Jim Robinson and Tony Mincey; siblings: Lavonia G. Todd, Betty G. Mullenix, Clyde Gaines; and one great-grandson, Jarrett Boston.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 11 o'clock at Concord United Methodsit Church with the Revs. Russell Bruce and Thomas Moon officiating. Graveside services were held for the immediate family in the Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery on Wednesday, April 1, 2020.
