Ms. Sherry ‘Jean’ Raines Almond, 75, of Bowman, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Thursday, February 11, 2021, at her son’s residence in Canon.
Jean was born in Elberton on November 23, 1945, daughter of the late Lorton Duckworth Raines and Clara Bell Wood Davis. She was a retired waitress and had previously worked for the Georgia Department of Corrections Food Service in Jefferson. Jean attended West End Baptist Church and formerly attended Bowman Baptist Church.
Survivors include her four-legged companion, Buddy; children: Sherry and Gary Demers, Terri Almond, James and Rita Almond, and Cindy Harris-Keith; grandchildren: Adam Harris, Hannah Rose Almond, Luke Demers, Abigail Keith, Ann Marie Almond, and David Herring; great-grandchildren: Adeline Gray, Easton Ricks, and Mason Herring; siblings: Edward and Nancy Raines, Robert and Mary “Dipper” Andrews, Fay and GF Massey, and Reba Patanella; special friend, Alice House; special friend and caretaker, Lisa Brown; and numerous other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Nell Gehrke, HT Andrews, Dudley Raines, Billy Andrews, and Kennon Raines.
Memorial services celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, February 20, at 2 o’clock at West End Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Fife officiating.
The family will greet friends on Saturday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Masks are requested by the family and social distancing will be observed.
